First Thus. Recently rebound in black cloth with bold, large gilt lettering on spine; blue endpapers; all edges stained blue. A little light foxing, very good. Topp [II, p 173] incorrectly identifies this as the first edition. The novel (Hay's first) was originally published in three volumes as The Arrandel Motto by "Mark Hardcastle", by T. Cautley Newby in 1871. Hay revised the title spelling (and possibly the text) for this one volume edition of 1877. View more info
