The first edition appeared in 1877 and was reprinted in 1878, both by Routledge, with 219 pages. Warne reprinted the book in the 1890s, with illustrations and pagination increased to 327 pages. This copy is an unrecorded Warne issue of the Routledge stock (ie not illustrated, 219 pages), probably about 1880. Original wavy-grained blue cloth, lettered and decorated in black on front board, in gilt on spine; Warne's own monogrammed endpapers.
