Undated first book edition, [1912]. Original red cloth, lettered and decorated in gilt on spine, small art-nouveau design blindstamped on front board. Decorated title page by Garth Jones. Undated signature on front pastedown, a little foxing on endpapers, otherwise bright and tight: very good. The first book issue: the story originally appeared as a paperback "companion" to the Christmas issue of The Strand Magazine in 1904. There was a later book printing, in a different binding, in around 1920. A supernatural Christmas goblin story, in the manner of Charles Dickens.
