Mid-C19th blue leather over marbled boards, lettered and decorated in gilt on spine; grey marbled endpapers. Extremities lightly scuffed, a little faint foxing, armorial bookplate on front pastedown, stain on rear endpapers and (more faintly) on last few leaves of text, good. "Sir Francis Palgrave...has imagined a visit by Marco Polo, during which the Venetian falls into the company of Roger Bacon and is introduced by him to various scenes exhibiting the political and social system of the country".
