Original grey cloth, lettered and framed in black on front board, lettered in gilt on spine. A few marks on cloth, armorial bookplate on front pastedown, otherwise very good. Violet Greville was aristocratic by birth and marriage, wrote a series of three-decker novels in the 1880s, and was a society columnist for The Graphic. She lived to the age of 90 (dying in 1942) but it seems that The Fighters was her last work. The novel is an historical romance woven around Napoleon Bonaparte and a "Woman of Destiny".
