First English Edition in Three Volumes. Original green cloth, lettered and decorated in black on boards, in black and gilt on spines; yellow endpapers. Rebacked with original spines relaid; spines a little darkened, free corners rubbed, a few light marks, remains of Mudie's bookplates on front boards, a little foxing, good. Wolff [1731], although this copy has initial blank leaves in volumes II & III (Wolff says I & II), and no advertisements in Volume I. The first of Daudet's novels to be translated into English and given the full three-decker treatment. A heavy three-volume set which will require aditional postage outside the UK.
