Undated First Edition [1882?]. Original brown cloth, with flower and leaf design in black, lettered in gilt; yellow endpapers. Spines ends lightly rubbed, undated signature on front pastedown, foxing, very good. "Alan Muir" seems to be a pseudonym, but there are at least two potential candidates for the "real" identity of the author, which means nothing is known with any certainty. He published at least five two-and three-volume novels in the last quarter of the C19th (Wolff held three). Hearthrug Farces is a collection of four short novels: Pentagon Terrace, Mrs Trumpet's Telescope, Selina's Revenge & Mr Solomon Droop the Pilgrim of Love.
