Bell's Indian & Colonial Library Edition. Pre-dates the English trade edition of 1898, with 1897 on title page. Ex-library (from the South African Public Library, later Fulham & Hammersmith.) Traces/remains of labels on boards, but no shelf marks; South African library rules plate on front pastedown, trace of plates, stamps etc on front endpapers, accession stamps on verso of title page, small oval stamp on first page of text. Corners rubbed, foxing spots: only a fair but tight copy of this scarce issue.
