Lightly scuffed, damp marks on edges of endpapers, inscription (1891) on half-title, otherwise good. Wolff [2472]. A collection of short stories and novelettes by the less well-known and less successful of the Gerard sisters, with settings principally in Eastern Europe (Poland etc). The stories are: Elias of Blotatyn, Two Robbers: A Legend, Magda's Cow, Grey Fur & His Uncle and Her Grandmother. The stories are reprinted from various journals, with the epigraph "Be well advised, tell o'er the tale again" -- Shakespeare.
