Original deep crimson cloth, lettered in gilt and decorated in black. Spine sunned to pink, nick to cloth at head of spine, a few pages have lightly wrinkled edges, a little foxing, good. Baker spent much of her life in New Zealand and used it (as here) as a setting for her fiction -- all of which is now uncommon. Sutherland describes her novels as "grim".
