Photograph frontispiece of Orsi in Volume I. Two volumes in original maroon cloth, lettered in gilt; brown-and-white patterned endpapers. Bookplates of Frank Halliday Cheetham on front pastedowns, partly overlaid with plates noting donation of Cheetham's 2,000 books to Wigan Public Library (c1937); Wigan Public Library armorial plate on front pastedowns, with small accession stamps on verso of title pages, trace of small (removed) labels on spines. Ex-library but lightly used: a trifle scuffed on extremities, cloth a little darkened, otherwise very tight: a good set. Inscription in pencil on half-title of Volume I reads: F. H. Cheetham from the Author, January 1894. Wolff . A novel of love and revolution, opening in America in 1772, and moving first to England and finally, to the author's native Italy.
