Original red cloth with gilt thistle on front board. Spine lightly sunned, signature and name stamp (Dr Douty) on front endpapers, light foxing/spotting throughout, good. McLaren wrote some ten novels, starting with From a Davos Window in 1903; the best-known and most reprinted being Bawbee Jock (1910). The House of Barnkirk is her second title, set in a fishing village on the East Coast of Scotland. Uncommon.
