Original green cloth, lettered and decorated in white and black (with gilt on spine). White areas rubbed on spine, a few light marks, foxing on endpapers, undated signature on front pastedown, good. Edith was the younger (and much less well-known) sister of Ellen Thorneycroft Fowler (author of Concerning Isabel Carnaby etc). Like her sister, Edith wrote of "the romantic problems of high-minded, politically active, Christian members of the upper classes." (Edwardian Fiction)
