Original green cloth, blocked in gilt; black endpapers. Corners bumped, a little light scattered foxing. Crisp, bright, very good. A novel dealing with socialists and radicals in the first half of the nineteenth century. A limited edition of 1000 copies (only 250 in boards) were issued of the first edition in 1887, and is consequently scarce. The "second edition" appeared in 1893 (dated MCDCCCXCIII on the title page). This copy has no statement of edition and is dated 1892. I can find no record of this issue.
