"New Edition Two Volumes in One": undated [1896/7]. The first edition in two (separate) volumes, bound together. The volumes are separately paginated; the title page to the first volume is a cancel, the title page to the second has been removed leaving a stub. Original pale green cloth, lettered and decorated in darker green. Corners rubbed, light soiling, endpapers replaced, good. A remaindered re-issue of the first edition. A novel of religion and religious history: the story opens in Constantinople in 858 AD. Dennehy was Archdeacon of Cloyne in County Cork.
