New Edition. Original maroon cloth, lettered and decorated in black and gilt. Spine lightly sunned, corners scuffed, very good. Lady Lindsay and her husband opened the first Grosvenor Gallery in 1877 and were instrumental in supporting and exhibiting works by the Pre-Raphaelites. Lady Lindsay was herself an artist and a poet, in addition to being a writer of fiction (eg Bertha's Earl, 3 volumes, 1891). All her fiction is scarce. This collection comprises 10 stories: The Philosopher's Window, The Story of a Railway Journey, Poor Miss Brackenthorpe, Gracie, Letitia's Long Day, Miss Dairsie's Diary, The Rudiments of Romance, When Poverty Comes In, A London Story, Miss Toovey's Red Book.
