Four double-page illustrations. Original maroon cloth, lettered and illustrated in black on front board, lettered in gilt on spine, cream endpapers. Lightly scuffed, donation bookplate on front pastedown, signature (1891) on verso of front free endpaper, good. MoKeanna; or, The White Witness is a parody of the penny dreadful stories of G. W. M. Reynolds. It is followed by two parodies of Charles Reade: A Treble Temptation [ie A Terrible Temptation] and Chikkin Hazard [ie Foul Play]. The fourth story is The Barrows of Bordeaux; or, A Life's Mystery.
