London Chapman & Hall/Hutchinson 1906 Hardcover Very Good Book
The Devil's Keg The Story of the Foss River Ranch (1903). Paperback: Chapman & Hall, 1906. Bound with: A Rogue's Conscience (1897). Paperback: Hutchinson & Co., 1905. Bound with: The Eternal Quest (1901). Paperback: Hutchinson & co., 1905. Three Edwardian paperbacks bound (without original wrappers) in early C20th green leather over beaded green cloth; raised bands with gilt decorations on spine. Lightly scuffed, a little browning of paper, otherwise very good. Despite his American-sounding pseudonym and fondness for Westerns, Ridgwell Cullum was English (born London, died Torquay). The Devil's Keg had sold as many as 25,000 copies by 1910. A Rogue's Conscience is a crime story. Steuart's The Eternal Quest is a "military melodrama" (Victorian Fiction).
